James made his first short film 20 years ago and since then has gained a wide range of experience.
His narrative short films include:
Fabulous (2020) which was the winner of the DepicT! competition at Encounters Film Festival.
Newbie (2022) which has screened at BAFTA-Qualifying film festivals (Aesthetica and Carmarthen Bay) and has been nominated for a CSA (Casting Society) Artios Award.
Queenie (2023) which premiered at Fighting Spirit Film Festival, where it was nominated for ‘Best British Short Film’ and ‘Best British Cinematography’.
James’ documentaries have explored topics such as dementia (‘Young at Art’, 2018, the Israel/Palestine conflict (‘Stars of Bethlehem’, 2015, and remote tribes in Papua New Guinea (‘Songs of Simbai’, 2016).
